Blockchain‐enabled Green Bonds and Digital Platforms: A New Era of Sustainable Financing

Abstract—The worldwide push for sustainability and climate-smart investments has sparked a real demand for financial systems we can trust and see through clearly. Enter blockchain-powered green bonds: a fresh way to make eco-friendly funding smoother and more believable. This paper examines how blockchain and digital tools are energizing the green bond space through transparent visibility, easy tracking, robust reporting and true accountability. It also looks at how smart contracts and Distributed Ledger Tech (DLT) streamline operations and sharpen oversight in the sustainable finance world. Drawing from secondary sources like reports from institutions, research on green finance, blockchain papers, and green bond analyses, the work gauges blockchain’s impact on boosting investor faith, market speed, live tracking, and curbing greenwashing. We apply comparative and stats-based methods to spot shifts since blockchain joined the green bond party. Results reveal that these blockchain-driven platforms ramp up transparency with tamper-proof, instant logs of money flows and eco-metrics. Smart contracts speed up reports and handle compliance on autopilot, while DLT nails fund paths and check-ins. And, by making Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) information more authentic and reliable, blockchain verifications reduce the risks of greenwashing. Better access to true sustainability details builds investor confidence and draws more folks into green projects. For regulators, banks, policymakers, and eco-investors aiming to toughen green finance rules, this offers key takeaways. Blockchain setups promise clearer reports, sharper monitoring, and faster growth for sustainable investing. In the end, blending blockchain with green bonds marks a big leap to safer, more responsible, tech fueled finance.
